Cross Cultural Health Care Program (CCHCP)
http://www.xculture.org/
CCHP is a Seattle-based organization dedicated to improving health care access for ethnic minorities. They collaborate with minority communities, train health care providers and interpreters, and develop publications for educating health care providers about the minority populations they serve. From the home page, you can access information about CCHCP news, books and resources, training programs, interpreter services, translation services, and research programs. If you click on Books and Resources, then Our Products, you will find CCHCP's Community Profile Series. This is a series of 20-30 page profiles of different ethnic communities and includes information on their history, immigration history, and concepts of health care and medicine. These profiles can be purchased for $10 each and are available for Cambodian, Chinese, Filipino, Hmong, Japanese, and Vietnamese populations. They are working on new profiles, so other populations may be available soon. Six-page versions of these profiles can be downloaded for free. These smaller profiles are available for the following communities: Arab, Cambodian, Ethiopian, Eritrean, Lao, Mien, Oromo, Samoan, Somali, South Asian, Ukranian, and Soviet-Jewish.
