Available in English or Spanish, this 48-page handbook can be used with the instructor's manual, Toxics on the Job: Protecting your Health. (See listing in Curricula and Workbooks section.) This is most relevant to people who are exposed to strong solvents, chemicals, or tobacco smoke in their workplace. It explains in detail the dangers of hazardous chemicals and tobacco smoke, and how to take precautions to reduce your risk. There is a section on Planning for Action, which tells how to take specific steps to make your workplace safer and healthier. It also gives information about workers' legal rights and lists organizations that can help. The reading level is not very low, but it has a friendly layout with lots of numbered lists, bulleted sections, checklists, and charts, and a fair number of pictures.
KEYWORDS: Advocacy, Environmental Health, Occupational Health and Safety, Tobacco Education
